Journal

Six months ago today, on a different Sunday afternoon, life changed in a big way for the foreseeable future for Travis and his family during a motorcycle ride with his son, Jackson. While Travis still has a ways to go for a full recovery, God has brought him so far and we are very encouraged in the progress he has made and continues to make. We are grateful for the prayers and support of so many people that love Travis and our family.  ❤️

Since starting to walk without assistance (crutches, cane, etc.) about 5 weeks ago, there has been very steady progress both in how far and how fast Travis can walk. As I shared in a previous update, his first measured unassisted walk was on April 11. It was 0.32 mile and at a 40+ min./mile pace. So far this month he has gotten in five 1.5 mile walks. The first one was at a 33 min./mile pace and the last one was at a 26 min./mile pace. 😊 I used to have a hard time keeping up with him when he walked fast (a 14 or 15 min./mile pace), but I can hang with him now...for a little while longer. 😉

He has fairly recently gotten back to going to client meetings again and is able to work full-time now. I think most of the shifting of responsibilities that took place in November to cover things in Travis' absence from work have been shifted back to him now.

Although Travis still experiences pretty constant pain in his foot, it has decreased a little bit over the last few weeks. The thinking is that the pain is related to a variety of things such as lack of use, muscle and fascia tightness, nerve pain, swelling, etc. He and the Physical Therapist continue to work on the foot to try and improve that as much as possible.

Tomorrow will be his last hand therapy appointment. He'll continue with leg therapy twice a week throughout the rest of May and then drop back to once a week.  He should be done with leg therapy around the end of June.

We appreciate your continued prayers for Travis' healing and for God's good work to be done in and through him.
