Newest Update

Journal entry by Tara Richert

Hello to everyone once again!  We once again hope that everyone is still staying safe during this crazy time we are in.  With that being said, I wanted to provide you an update on how Tracy is doing.

During this quarantine, we have been spending as much time together as we can.  We have been getting together almost every weekend to make as many memories as possible together.  We even got to go to our family cabin and spend a long weekend together.  With all of the excitement that we have been having together, it sadly came to a pause on Friday June 19th when Tracy was in so much pain she had to go to the ER. The ER doctor told them that the cancer was not back and it was pain from too much elevation movement. We were all excited to hear that the cancer was not back...until she went to her oncology appointment and they confirmed that the cancer has indeed returned.  This time it attacked her joints in her knees and that is why she was in so much pain.  Her cancer cells were over 50% and her platelets plummeted.  She made the choice to do another round of chemo which was outpatient so she was able to go home each night.  With the cancer attacking her joints in her knees, it made it nearly impossible to walk.  She started with a cane, then went to a walker and eventually had to go to a wheelchair.

She has had 7 days of chemotherapy with yesterday being the last day of getting shots.  She will be starting a chemotherapy pill in the next couple of days to help the progress.  There has been significant improvement from when she started a week and a half ago until now. She now has been able to get around with a cane and is moving on her own more which is AMAZING!

When we found out that her cancer had returned, the doctor did also tell us that remission is highly unlikely this time.  We know that we still have an uphill battle ahead of us but we are going to enjoy every single minute that we have with one another.

We again thank everyone for your love and support that we have received during this time!
