Journal

Sunday marked two years since I received the "you have cancer" call. Wild. Life's been moving at the usual rapid pace that comes with having three little kids so the anniversary kind of snuck up on me and I haven't done much reflection. I was looking at pictures from 2 years ago when they popped up on Google photo and I was struck by little Charis was and how it feels like it was just yesterday but also a million years ago. So much has happened since then. We've been enjoying the warmer weather and learning how to garden, discovering which perennials are hiding around our yard. I teared up tonight at dinner looking at the vase full of flowers that all came from our yard. What a dream. 😍 Praising God for His goodness and sweet gifts.

In medical news, I have surgery tomorrow (5/14) morning to switch the breast tissue expander for the long term silicone implant. They'll also be taking out my port which feels bittersweet (it's been so nice to have but I don't need it so out it goes!). I asked my oncologist if the cancer will come back when my port comes out (I'm not superstitious but maybe a little stitious... 😬 ) and she said no (lol) and that everyone asks that before getting their port out. The surgery has felt very no big deal low key as we've been leading up to it, now that it's the night before I feel a little nervous. I'm anticipating the silicone implant being more comfortable so I'm looking forward to the switch. Dr Au said it should only be a 30 minute OR time (I'm scheduled for 8:00 start), so optimistically we'll be home by lunch! Recovery should also be much easier than the mastectomy/lymph node removal. Also looking forward to having a hopefully chill 2.5 weeks off post-op. Would appreciate prayer for a smooth and super boring procedure and recovery. Thank you all for being our village and prayer army standing behind us and holding us up, we love you all and are so grateful for each of you! <3
