4:30 p.m., Tuesday, New Year's Eve 2019
Correction! I thought they had taken Tony for his MRI but I was wrong. I've been here for a while but I didn't learn that he had not had his MRI until about 2:30! He gets confused sometimes. They were also su
pposed to have taken out his peg tube last night, that did not happen. I swear to the good Lord that doctors here do not communicate well! I'm always assured that even though we'll have a different doctor the next day, that all the notes are in his chart and the doctor will see them. Well today's doctor got it all wrong regarding the peg tube removal. It's still there. I threw a hissy about the MRI and they finally just came to get him to get the MRI done. He waited almost 36 hours for that with no one seeming to care! I don't see how any patient who is truly sick gets anything done For themselves! Especially if they have to move rooms or areas of the hospital. It's hard enough updating the different doctors that come to you in the same room, but when you're transferred from ER holding to an oncology unit, no one knows what the hell is going on! I asked to speak to someone from the surgery team an hour and a half ago. They page someone and the doctor just came in ... I told him I wanted the peg tube out. He said no there's no way they would do that because it has to be in 6 weeks. I told him that the surgery person who put it in said 4 weeks until removal, and that the GI doctor we saw yesterday said it was fine to come out now. It's been 5 weeks and 3 days. I kept arguing with him cuz he was arguing with me that he wouldn't do it, but when I gave him the date, for the third time, that the peg tube was inserted, on November 23, he asked what I meant. He thought that the peg tube was put in during our current stay, over the past 4 days!!!!!!!! He didn't even look back at the notes on Tony's peg tube over the last two months! I'm beside myself at the waste of time we've had and the miscommunication between doctors upon this day at JPS.

4:30 pm, Wed. Jan. 1 I am ecstatic to provide this report from the comfort of my living room!! We are home! Tony was discharged with follow up appointments for 5 different specialists, but it’s great that he is well enough to have the remaining stuff done outpatient. He is weak and will be taking it easy, but working on gaining strength and improving his cognitive abilities gradually. I’m back in the office full time next week so if anyone wants to sit w/ Tony during the day for a couple~ few hours on one (or more) days, that would be a help also. Maybe get him to play some cards or word games... something to make him think rather than watch TV all day. OR you could both sit and watch TV! Someone just being here would be a big help when I'm not home. Once again, Tony and I both thank you for your concern, input, words of encouragement, and those many prayers. Wishing you & yours a new year full of HEALTH & happiness. We only get one life - use it well! Give us a call or come for a visit!
