Tony’s Story

Site created on June 6, 2022

On Tuesday morning May  31st Tony was in a serious bicycle accident. He is an avid biker and was biking along E18 when a truck hit him from behind. He sustained several pelvic fractures, a puncture wound, cracked hip, 3 cracked ribs and a cracked vertebrae near the tailbone. One of the responders said it's an absolute miracle he's alive.

Kathy was in Oregon at the time but God was good in orchestrating seamless travel back to Iowa, including the kindness of strangers.

His doctors said the prognosis is good but recovery will be like a marathon. The day of the accident he had a “flushing” surgery and the next day he had a repairing surgery. He’s currently at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines and will be working with physical therapy for the next several weeks.

This site will serve as a way to keep friends and family updated on the medical details and to recount the blessings of God, who is mighty to save.
