On the evening of April 8, 2021 Toni was over at her mom's house helping her clean up when she started acting out of sorts. She was organizing some papers on the table, then she started to knock them on the floor. She said she needed to go outside and proceeded to get up from the table, but was very off balance. She fell a couple times on her way to the door, then one final time and did not get back up. At this time the paramedics were called and she was rushed to Burnsville Ridges hospital. When she arrived the doctors took her in to get scans and imaging of her brain to see what was going on. The scans showed that there was a lot of bleeding, and she needed to be transferred to a hospital that specialized in neurosurgery. She was brought to M Health Fairview in downtown Minneapolis where Mike, Rachel, Alex and Amber got to see her one last time before she went into surgery to relieve the pressure on her brain. At around Midnight her neurosurgeon called Mike with an update. She had a large hemorrhage due to high blood pressure, which relieved us of our worries of another aneurism. They open her skull in two areas and the swelling appeared to go down. She was stable throughout the whole operation and they decided to put the bone flaps back on rather than leaving her skull open. She will probably not have any strength on her right side for the foreseeable future. Due to the location of the bleed in her brain it is also still questionable about how much of her speech and comprehension she will regain.

Journal entry by Rachel Roby

Hello, sorry we can't figure out how to make the even public, here are all the details!

This is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the life of one of the best people to have been on this earth.

Toni Roby was my wife, my best friend, and my soulmate.

As hard as it has been to say goodbye, we all owe her a proper sendoff. A true celebration of her generous spirit.

Please, no gifts, just come and share stories, hugs, tears, and smiles.

I will have beer, water, soda, and some food.

Both her and I wished that when we go, we have a celebration, not a funeral. With this, please try to think of how Toni made your life better. I would love to hear some of those stories.

Location is at Mike's, May 21st at 2pm
