Welcome to Tom’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportTom had CT scans done on Friday 12/20/19. Results were delayed due to the holidays but Freda reported,
"CT revealed a lesion on Tom's lung. The lesion is next to the aorta so surgical intervention is not an option due to the location. He has another lesion on the liver that is the size of a golf ball and the fluid they drained from the lung also tested positive for cancer. According to the oncologist, there are 3% of patients with this diagnosis that show markers that would benefit from oral chemotherapy treatment. The pills are very expensive and must be ordered so treatment is expected to begin in the next 2 weeks. The Dr. feels this treatment option is the best for Tom. Once the treatment has had time to work, we will re-evaluate to see if Tom's body is responding to the treatment. Depending on results, we will make further decisions about any additional treatments that may be needed at MD Anderson."
With that said, please pray that Tom's body will respond to oral chemotherapy as planned. Pray he is able to ambulate better, without pain. Pray specifically for his stomach and ability to eat to nourish his body. Right now he is only able to tolerate oatmeal for the most part. We will try Ensure Plus today to see if we can supplement and add some calories for strength.
Thank you for all your support! Keep the prayers coming!
