Journal entry by Kimberly Best —
Dad was moved to the Theda Hospital in Appleton yesterday. He had his belly drained today and asked for a malt when he got back to his room so that is a good sign! One of his symptoms with the fluid in his abdomen was lack of appetite so the fact that he is now hungry is really good! He is ready to go home and is hoping they discharge him today. He has met with the Palliative Care Coordinator this morning and had a nice chat. Deb and Angela got there for the very end of it which was good. They are going to be scheduling a family meeting in the near future, just giving Dad a chance to think over what they discussed this morning. I just talked to him on the phone and he sounded good....a little feisty about going home! I was told by the Palliative Care Coordinator that they are going to miss him when he does go home, that they have all really enjoyed caring for him when he was there. I am not sure he realizes the impact he has on people, no matter who they are or where he meets them! Thanks for all of your support and prayers. We all really appreciate it! Please keep them coming!
