It has been a while since we gave our last update on Tom! 
Tom has been doing very well. We continue to be so incredibly proud of all the hard work he puts into his therapies. 

We all had a busy summer. It's hard to believe we are quickly approaching fall. 

Last week, Monday, Tom started his Intensive Aphasia program in Maple Grove. He will attend this program for 4 weeks Mon-Fri from 9am-12:30pm. While in this program, Tom will be putting all of his focus into speech therapy. He and 4 other patients work daily with two therapists at a time as well as in a group setting. We should expect a 13% increase in his speech once this program concludes. After his first 4 week session, they will evaluate him and if he has shown improvement, he will take a couple of weeks off before starting a second session. With being in this Aphasia program, he is taking a break from PT and OT, so Barb is working hard to make sure he is getting in those therapies while he is at home.

We are so grateful to all that have volunteered their time to take Tom to and from his therapy sessions and now the Aphasia program. During his current program, we do not stay with him like we did at the Robbinsdale location. With that being said, we have someone drive him to and from. We currently have wonderful friends and family helping out but we can use as many drivers as possible. If anyone is available and willing to do a drive during the week, please let Barb know. It is much appreciated and Tom loves to spend time with as many friends and family as he can. :-) 

This past weekend, Blake and Ryan along with the help of Tom's brother Dan and neighbor Ben, worked hard on taking the boats, docks and lifts out for the winter. It was not easy for Tom to watch and not be able to help but he sure vocalizes when he wants something done a certain way! 

We are really looking forward to seeing an improvement in Tom's speech once his program concludes. We have already seen some noticeable changes!
