Journal entry by Thomas Platts

Good morning, loved ones, on this wet, rainy day!

I can't contain myself!!!  I just have to share God's continued goodness and blessings with you!  Tom's Memorial service was WONDERFUL!!!!  Just as we wanted it to be.  God received all the glory!  Tom's life was like all of ours.  Steps forward, steps backwards, steps forward.  He kept growing.  How blessed we are that he never gave up hope in our Lord .  .  .  his final destination!  We wanted Holy Spirit to use the service to touch lives .  .  .  all of our lives, and He did!!  Seeds were planted in hearts, drawing us all closer to Him.

Now for the rest of the story:
I noticed a couple of days ago that Tom's social security check had been withdrawn from our checking account.  😕  Made phone calls to only find that I am not eligible to apply for widows/survivor's benefits until I turn 60 in September. 😕  Yesterday as I attempted to look at our accounts further, my log-in was blocked.  😕  Phone calls later, I discovered I did not have access to our credit card because my name was not on that account.  We had learned that a few months ago when we tried to get a second card, with the request denied.  😕 Frustrating since we have shared all our banking the whole 41 years we have been married!  I opened mail.  Found $7,000 in new medical bills.  Sympathy cards reminding me of my loss of my sweet mess of a husband.  I determined not to get overwhelmed, but to just take it one step at a time.  I mean, my verse of the day was:  "Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."  Matthew 7:7 NIV.   So, death certificate and Power of Attorney in hand, I went to the bank only to find out that since my name was not on the credit card account I am not personally responsible for the $8000 on the card (this was a payment on his new medical treatment)!  His estate could be, but that's only if I have to set up an estate account . .  . , which does not seem likely.  Coming home I was still trying to process that news.  At home, I contacted the Care Credit company.  We had borrowed $20,000 to cover Tom's first new treatment payment as we were scrambling around trying to come up with cash fast.  Patty applied for the credit in Tom's name.  The rest of the story:  due to Tom's passing, they cancelled the account!!!!!  I am not responsible for the debt!!!  🙏 🙌   I have lots more work to do to file insurance, etc. on another $27,000 in medical bills that I currently know of, but I will work on that and hopefully get some of it covered.  However, the bottom line is that I can breathe easier with having some of the debt wiped away and knowing that God's got even this!!!!!  So after all of that exhausting excitement yesterday, I ended the day early soaking in a hot tub of water and climbing into bed super early.  I was comforted in the night with sweet dreams with my sweetie and slept super late this morning.  I was greeted with my verse of the day:  "I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds."  Psalm 9:1 NIV.   This is why I just have to share with you!  And what I know is that if our good, good Heavenly Father can do this for me, He can and will do it for YOU, my sweet friends, brothers and sisters in Christ!!!!!

Love you!!!!!
