Tom’s Story

Site created on November 18, 2018

On Tuesday, November 13, after about ten days of mild but strange bouts of fatigue, lab tests showed my red and white blood cell and platelet counts to be dangerously low. A bone marrow biopsy the next day pointed to leukemia, and when I showed a fever on Thursday, Gail took me to the Brigham and Women's Hospital Emergency Room. That night I was admitted to one of the oncology floors, where I have been ever since. I have heard from many of the people I love since I have been admitted; after only four days on the ward, I miss you all terribly. Gail, myself and others will be posting news about my treatment on this site. We'll try to stay current, although we're already behind. If you want to keep up, drop in often, and stay tuned. I'm glad you're checking in and that you're with me. I'm thinking of you.

Attention, dear readers.  There will be no service until at least next summer.  We had always planned for an enormous party.  Stay tuned.  My request is that you preserve your memories of Tom for next summer. (cross fingers)   We'll need to hear them at a sort of Quaker service. WRITE THEM DOWN!
