Journal entry by Rebecca Fee —
On Wednesday, April 24 Tom had to go to the emergency room. He remained in the hospital until Monday, April 29th.
In that time, he’s had 3 rounds of radiation on his esophageal tumor, an endoscopy, and two blood transfusions. The doctors discovered that Tom’s esophageal tumor had continued to grow and had begun to bleed. The radiation should help slow the growth and stop the bleeding.
As you can imagine it’s been a whirlwind. We all know hospital visits are never fun, but it was the right place for Tom to get more tests and continued monitoring.
On Saturday, Rebecca and Tom enjoyed watching a marathon of Indiana Jones movies at the hospital. Sunday brought naps and lots of basketball. He has been tired, but still been working on taking walks to move even while in hospital.
The current plan is to continue with the targeted radiation until May 8th. This will include ongoing review and monitoring. We’ll see what happens after that.
We greatly appreciate all your love and many inquiries into how you can help. Please continue to reach out to feesisters@gmail.com. Using this one contact point really helps us, the helpers, keep track. Coordinating visits along with all the medical appointments can be overwhelming for us all, especially Tom.
We’d be happy to share the best mailing address and suggest possible times for visits. Tom’s diet has evolved so we can update you on current food restrictions, etc. We appreciate your patience as it can take us some time to get back to you.
We couldn’t have gotten through the last 9 months without all your love and encouragement.
Love,
Becca & Rachel
