Friends and family, Dad went to be with Jesus this morning just after 10:30am. He is fully healed and fully at peace.

We are devastated, and we know you are as well, yet we grieve with hope. We are filled with sadness, but also joy as we imagine Dad meeting his Creator.

Mom, Jason, and I are so thankful for some sweet moments we got to spend with Dad this week in his last days. We sang hymns. We read. We cried. We laughed. Jason was able to watch a baseball game with Dad on Opening Day. I was able to share with Dad that his third grandchild—due in early December—is a girl. The hospital allowed all three of us to gather with Dad this morning, along with Mom and Dad’s dear pastor and friend, David Cassidy. David read these words from the Apostle Paul to us, to Dad, in the moments before Dad took his last breaths: “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8

In lieu of flowers, we request any donations made in Dad’s memory be directed to the “Rise and Build” capital campaign at Christ Community Church in Franklin, TN. This is a project that was very dear to Dad (and Mom); they co-chaired the campaign to provide designated gathering space for the next generation of Franklin.

Lastly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we regret that we will not be holding a public celebration of Dad’s life. I know that so many of you love us and loved Dad and will be grieving with us. We’re heartbroken that we cannot do that together in person at this time.

Love,
Teresa, Jason, & Kelsey
