Journal entry by Gina Beck —
April 24. We’ve been seeing this date in our minds all year long. Last year, this day was terrifying. This year, today we are celebrating.
This morning Todd walked around our tall, square, 8-chair dining room table TWO times with his right hand supporting him. I was barely holding him on the left, if at all. There were tears in his eyes after the first loop, and a repeated “Thank you God” whispered from his lips during the second loop. We are seeing the prayer request for Todd to be able to walk again being fulfilled! Praise be to God!!
For the past 12 days Todd’s progress has been gradual but actually felt fast. Sitting up on his own… lifting himself up to a standing position… sitting in the hot shower… rotating down into the wheelchair unassisted… transferring himself from the wheelchair to the tall dining room chair and eating at the table… going up one step on the staircase with the physical therapist… and now taking a stroll around the dining room table. Thank you, Lord!!! 🙌🏻
At last night’s soccer game Todd was wheeled into the stadium by friends. We pray that next week Todd will be able to WALK onto the field with our family, those same friends and more, along with our boys as we celebrate all 15(!) of them for Senior night. 🙏🏻
And if walking onto that field turns out to be too much too soon, we will still praise in thanksgiving as we do each day. Perspective is a gift. And God is good and trustworthy all the time.
All the time. That’s easy to write, tough sometimes to grasp, but absolutely possible to believe and to live when His loving promises are the firm foundation. 💖 “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
