It has been a long time since I updated, but so far,Tim is doing ok. He had his last CT scan in November & was told there is no evidence of cancer!!! (NED) such a blessing to hear! The oncology radiologist recommended the whole brain radiation which is standard treatment for early SCLC after chemo& radiation. It does have a lot of potential side effects that can be permanent. After doing some research, talking with his oncologist, and considering Tim’s other medical issues, he decided to forego the preventive radiation & save it for later if needed. The oncologist recommended MRI of brain every 3months to monitor for any metastasis. He had a normal brain MRI last month & has his 3 month CT of chest/and/pelvis later this month. We pray for good results!
he has been inside much of the winter due to the cold & still has trouble with stamina. He still gets weekly nurse & biweekly PT visits, so that helps. We are looking forward to warmer weather so he can be out more. Covid has really limited us going out so he is getting stir crazy at this point.
next week he is having a scope to stretch his esophagus. He has some narrowing due to scar tissue from radiation. I hope he will be able to eat more once this is done. His weight is holding, but at 138 he is still very thin.
I will post when we get test results. This has been quite a journey for both of us, but we are taking one day at a time & hoping for the best.
