Tim was working on getting the cement basement in for our new home when he kneeled in cement. The first time he rinsed it off and later during the day he kneeled in it again. We had no idea that cement could cause such severe burns. We went to the ER that night and then to the burn center in Minneapolis. The doctors said he would need surgery in order for him to be able to have full use of his knees. After trying to get finical help from the hospital we have little options. We do not have insurance. Tim lost his job in March and decided to do his custom railing business full time. He was not sure if the business would do well or not and was not sure if he could make our monthly bills, so we had to forgo insurance. His business started to pick up and did well but we then we had to wait for open enrollment, which is in November, to be insured by January. Unfortunately he got injured in October. As most of you know, Tim he has a high pain tolerance but it is wearing on him, 3rd degree burns are painful. This has been very difficult to see him in so much pain. He went from once being a person who barely took a moment to sit down to not being able to work. In the past three weeks he has been healing and is now able to move around for at least four hours during the day but then falls asleep. Tim was never been one to take a nap, I'm glad he is napping but it just shows how wearing all of this is on him. I can't believe he is even able to work, but he is one of those men who pushes through no matter what. Our recent Dr.'s visit was discouraging we were hoping that the doctor would say he didn't need the surgery but we received the same news, he needs the surgery.
