Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

The  last few week have been really difficult for Tim.  He had fallen at home 4 times and two of those times we needed to call 911 for intervention to help get him up as I am not well enough to help lift him since my surgery.  With the first fall he ended up tearing his Achilles Tendon on an already badly infected foot and wound.  Wound care did all they could do but it was determined that he needed to go to Rochester for a more aggressive intervention.  The night before this happened, however, he had been taken to the emergency room in Albert lea for severe stomach pain and constipation.  It was determined there that his gall bladder was the culprit and he had stones.  They sent him home with no pain meds or anything and told him to come back the next day to get an ultrasound as they had no techs on at night to do this.

So Thursday arrived and we had planned to go to ER for this test and wound care, but that did not happen.  Instead he was taken to St Marys in Rochester for further evaluation.  He was admitted to St Marys the next day and after many test and lab work  it was determined that the infection in his foot was too severe and into the bone.  He would need an amputation. We are still waiting on Orthopedics to decide if it will be an above the knee or a below the knee amputation.  For right now the gall bladder issue will be put on hold and monitored there, his constipation issue has resolved after 4 enemas and he will be doing dialysis 3 days a week for 5 hours at a time while he is there.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he is really struggling with this.  I am trying to get there as often as I can but still dealing with feeding tube and my Dr appointments and financially it is alot driivng back and forth right now. He loves visiting with people and if anyone would like his number message me and I will give it to you.  As of right now we are thinking that the amputation surgery will be on Wednesday but again that is at Mayo's discretion.

Thank you to the wonderful ambulance crew and fire Dept that came when we needed you most and to Jennifer and Jason for everything that you did for us and to Colby for being here to get him off the floor or that would have been another ambulance call.

I will try to update this daily as we know more what is happening.  But one thing is for sure this will be a very long road with rehab and possibly prosthesis.

Journal entry by Dawn Haskins

Well it happened Tim got released from St Marys in Rochester....woo hoo!!!.  The stretcher company picked him up about 930 and he got to Jackson a little after lunch time.

I got his stuff put away, signed paperwork and Harley and I visited til about 4 so we could get back before dark.

He was in great spirits when I left and had a little pain.  Tomorrow he will do dialysis in Fairmont at 8 am, he will get picked up at 715.  I believe Monday they will start with the rehab.

I plan on going there for sure a couple days a week but with gas prices the way they are we will see.

If you want to send a card to him here's his address:
