Journal entry by Carol Maxwell

So this will be my last post of things to share about our sad journey as today was the last official task related to Tim’s death.  We picked up his cremains from the funeral home.  Boy that makes thing final, doesn’t it?  We still are in disbelief that 2 weeks ago he died, and just 8 weeks ago today that Tim began his medical journey.  As we often know, life can change on a dime.  But there are so many people I need to thank who have helped us get this far and will continue to sustain us (Colin, Cameron and me).  I won’t name everyone because the list is long but I especially want to thank those who helped us with both of the services for Tim:  one at Trinity United Methodist Church and one at Hendrix College.  Thank you to Eddie Dunn, Les White, Jennifer Peszka, Leslie Zorwick, and Ellis Arnold for their warm and humorous messages at Tim’s funeral service.  Thank you to Pastor Roy, Hee-Kyung Juhn and Dina Rail for the service and wonderful music.  Thank you to some of our Sunday School friends the Sills, Murphys and Stocks (there may have been others!) who helped with the reception following the service.

On Thursday, March 12, Hendrix had a beautiful service for Tim from his professional colleagues (and friends).  Thank you to Ellis Arnold, Ralph Scott, Courtney Osmus Ghormley, Ralph McKenna and Mary Anne Steibert for their wonderful remembrances.  And then there were the “ladies.”  Some of Tim’s female colleagues in the Psychology Department at Hendrix had a great story that you would have had to hear to understand that reference but suffice it to say that for many of the last 10 or so years Tim was the only male in the largely female department.  I think he often felt like a father figure or big brother to these wonderful women who kept him young and on his toes.  I heard stories I never knew and wish Tim had known about the impact he had on their lives as well as the countless students he mentored in his 31 year career at Hendrix.

And I have to say a special thanks to big brother Tom and his wife Cynthia.  They hosted a visitation at their home the night before Tim’s service so that we could visit with old and current friends, some from our childhood and some from our adult life.  (They also provided the food for the reception at the church.) All of you who came to any of these events are dear and special to us.  Younger brother Bo and his wife Kate, along with Tom and Cynthia, have been our rocks through all of this and are continuing to hold us close which is greatly appreciated.

Cameron is still at our home so I am glad to have him near for just a big longer before he moves on with his life and job search hopefully in Dallas, TX.  Colin lives in Little Rock so I know we will continue to support each other through the weeks and months to come.  I am eternally grateful for my boys!!

Much love to all of you for all the cards, texts, calls and well-wishes.  They mean more than can I ever say.
