Tim’s Story

Site created on July 18, 2020

On Thursday, July 16th Tim was injured at work when a tire he was working on blew up in his face and his abdomen. The radiologist revealed almost all of the facial bones including his jaw are shattered. He was flown to Avera in Sioux Falls and is currently in the ICU. He has several bumps, bruises, and lots of swelling. He isn't able to speak because he has a ventilator to assist with breathing due to the swelling (but has been able to breathe on his own) and is alert and can communicate with a letter board. They are waiting a couple of weeks for the swelling to decrease in his face before they can perform cosmetic and total reconstructive surgery. This will be a long road and we ask for continued prayers and healing throughout his recovery process.

Journal entry by Angel Doom

Today was bittersweet. We are so happy, yet a little sad. Today papa went back to his home. This morning as Chris and I started our daily routine, Chris said to me, this kinda stinks, papa is going home today and I’m really going to miss our morning chats. We are so extremely happy that he has progressed enough to go home, yet we are sad that our new norm of having him with us had come to and end.  As devastating as the circumstances were, it was a huge blessing having him stay with us while he recovered. Every single one of my kids was a bit sad to see him go. We are however extremely happy for him and God has blessed him in his recovery which makes it easier to accept. Papa is now back in his Avon home and we are so happy for him. We made lots of memories while he was here and we will cherish them forever but we are extremely happy that he has his freedom back. Papa is a great guy and deserves the absolute best in life. Thank you all for your prayers and those who brought meals. You are amazing people and your kindness warms our hearts ❤️
