Dearest friends and family,

On the heels of a great celebration of life gathering at the home of my father, I am saddened to announce the passing of Thomas Polimus. Parkinson's finally won the war, but my dad came out on top time and time again. He passed at 12:27 AM. He held on until each and every person who attended the gathering was able to say goodbye to him. We were there with him when he left this world and he did so in a very peaceful way. On behalf of Ellie, Greg, Jane, and myself, we cannot thank everyone in the community enough for supporting my father and family over the past several weeks and months. Tom was blessed to have you all in his life, and Ellie and I are blessed to have come know you and consider you all part of our family. Below is a sneak preview of his obituary:

Thomas Polimus - January 6, 1930 - July 21, 2019

A man who gave so much to so many is now in the arms of the Lord. Thomas “Tom” Polimus, age 89, joins his beloved Jean Larsen Polimus on July 21, 2019 after 7 years of separation. Falling victim to Parkinson's Disease, Tom fought back and never gave up. Even in the worst of times, as a jack-of-most-trades, Tom was constantly helping neighbors keep their properties along the Emma St. community in top shape. In most cases, he never asked for anything in return.

His will to live was inspirational. Where most people would have succumbed to using a walker, wheelchair, or scooter, Tom placed objects or chairs in strategic locations so he could shuffle from one spot to the next in order to reach his destination, which was often his golf cart. Tom loved his family, community, and his country. As an Air Force veteran, he loved airplanes and history. As a father, he taught responsibility and accountability. As a husband, he was devoted and caring. As a friend, he gave anything, but mostly of himself. Tom simply loved people. Story telling was a popular pastime, and he had enough of them to go around so you rarely heard the same one twice.

Tom leaves behind a large list of people who will miss him greatly. His sister, Caliope Polimus, Greg and Ellie Fairris (daughter), Jane and Martin Polimus (son), Amanda Polimus (granddaughter), Melanie Purdy (granddaughter), the Ottesen bunch, most of Tool Texas, several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend in Ron Repp who cared for Tom everyday for many, many months up until the end of his amazing life.

Heaven, be prepared to be entertained. As Tom would quite often say at the end of a conversation, be good, and be on time.
