Hi Everyone! This will likely be the last Caring Bridge post regarding our kidney transplant journey, barring any major events/happenings. What a journey it has been!

We both continue to heal and become stronger and more like our "old selves". Tom's hemoglobin dipped in June, but an iron infusion took care of that. His lab numbers continue to improve, and he feels good and has energy. His quick, witty sense of humor is back (fortunately, unfortunately?) The doctors tell us there may still be bumps and hiccups along the way, but we're optimistic that the kidney will continue to do its stellar job, despite its sluggish start.

I am also doing well. I'm monitoring my blood pressure--systolic is good; diastolic seems to be creeping up--which I guess can happen when you're living with one kidney. It may also be a result of age, heredity, and maybe a bit of residual anxiety from this whole process. No meds yet, just something to watch. We both continue our daily walks (4-5 miles) and exercise routines. Our band is playing occasionally. We've taken several mini-trips this summer. Life is good.

We'd like to thank everyone who has followed and supported us through this journey. We definitely feel the love! Our take-aways: We have awesome friends and family; modern medicine is amazing; we can ALL be more resilient than we ever thought possible; Jack Ryan is still a great show; and books are wonderful diversions.  Sending our love to you all!
