Lee’s Story

Site created on May 3, 2020

Thank you for joining me on my journey.  On April 28th, I received news that no one wants to hear. I have been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Treatment begins with aggressive chemotherapy over the next several months. My sisters and I will be using this site to keep you updated. The best way you can support me and my family is through prayer and words of encouragement. We will update the site with practical needs as they arise.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lee Perkins

Hi all, I was all ready for yesterday’s chemo infusion, but after checking my bloodwork, the doctor and infusion nurse concluded thatmy WBC count was too low treatment.  One of the chemo drugs, Irrenotecan, already has the side effect of lowering my white blood cell count, so, it would have been dangerous to do chemo yesterday.  We discussed the plan for me to do 3 days of my WBC boosting shots, the ones I normally take after treatments for 5 days, and, we will check again, and hopefully treat with chemo again, next week on Wednesday.
Thanks to all who were sending out well wishes and prayers, maybe I needed a little vacation from the chemo!

Also, some great news from yesterday:
My CEA marker, which I have discussed before, it’s a measure of total cancer cells, is down to 54 now!  It started at 300 before treatment, and after 3 treatments it’s dropped by 80%!  Praise the Lord for His goodness, grace, and mercy!  To Him goes the glory for this news!

Take care,
Lee.
