Read the details below of the timeline in which the funds were raised…the story is astounding.

From a Facebook post of Dan and Tracy’s church, First Baptist Church:

A Fundraiser Update from Kim
**********************************
Announcement I made at the beginning of yesterday's worship service:

As most of you are aware we have been fundraising for a family in our church over the last several weeks. Last Friday [3/31] I received a text from the mom who said that she wanted to abandon the fundraiser. She said she was struggling with the whole thing emotionally and she was sure it was a pride thing, but didn’t want to keep begging people to help while no one seemed to be responding and that when they end up with a lot of medical bills that they will just trust God to help them manage. At the time she texted me, we were all feeling discouraged as we had collected less than $200 over the course of several weeks.

Then this past Sunday [4/2] Pastor Jerry told me that someone had come to him and said they didn’t want to host a dinner in their home but would offer a match challenge of $1000 instead. So basically, they’d give $1000 if we raised $1000. I reached out to our recipient family with this information and ask them what they wanted to do. The mom’s response was “I suppose God is telling me to stay out of it.” She then gave the okay to proceed with additional fundraising efforts.

Over the course of this past week, we had a couple other people step up and also offer match challenges. Your emails have been blown up. Your Facebook feed has been flooded. But you all turned up!

Since our challenge was announced, we received funds from a few dinners that people hosted in their homes, plus so very many, many of you responded to the match challenge. We had amounts come in varying from $25-$500. As of last night [Saturday] we were closing in on $8000. So on behalf of our family I want to say thank you and praise God for his faithfulness!

Fast forward to the end of the service:

I multitasked and checked in to see what our updated totals were AND... we received additional donations that blew me away.  I’m actually still stunned. We have now collected at least $16,000, which is more than our goal of $15,000 (some funds are still coming in and need to be counted).

What a beautiful Easter blessing for our cherished church family and praise and glory to God from who all blessings flow!  Thank you to each of you who answered the call and let God use you as an instrument to bless this family beyond measure. Their burden is a little lighter today because of your faithfulness.
