Isla & Thea’s Story

Site created on July 4, 2022

Our family is beyond blessed to have the connection of fellowship between our family and friends and our church family. We plan to use this page as a way to communicate to you all how the girls are doing through their health journey. We have prayed “Strong & Mighty” over Isla and Thea and God has heard all of our prayers. There’s nothing that our God can’t do!

Journal entry by April Lutes

They’re 18 months today!!

And we are all truckin along day to day, in the crazy life of twins. Each milestone and stumbling block is another reminder of God’s greatness and faithfulness.

The twins enjoy making each other laugh and playing hide and seek around corners. We have noticed that Isla is more like her dad, goes with the flow easier and loves to be close to us. Thea is little more like me, good with independence and likes her space. Bath time is their favorite time, followed closely by traveling up the staircase. They are also obsessed with our climbing cushion set which has been a God sent in large gross motor development for Thea!

Isla is walking, on her way to running. She’s working on matching colors and shapes. She has a few “signs” down and working on more of them. She prefers to be in the middle of the chaos and will take any attention she can get.

Thea girl has been monkey scooting her way around for months now and has finally begun to enjoy walking with support of both hands. She walks along furniture independently, so we are getting there!! Keep going Thea!! The world gets more exciting when you can walk and run.

In Oct she had a G-Tube placed in efforts to boost her calorie intake. Little stinker just doesn’t want to eat and pushes away both the bottle and solid foods. While we regularly battle vomiting, Praise God she is still gaining weight more rapidly with the assisted feeds. We are seeing a Speech therapist for feeding therapy, though there isn’t much availability to get treatment as they are short staffed.

She is nearing 16 lbs and is almost ready for size 3 diapers. She is currently still in 6 months clothing. Keep growing Thea!

With 4 older siblings, the environment is always a hectic one and the girls don’t know what to do with themselves when the house is quiet. We are looking forward to a low key holiday season. Again, we will be limiting our winter season exposure to protect them from RSV. Any colds that Thea gets sets off a chain reaction which results in more vomiting and less weight gain. God will see us through as he always does!

Have a blessed Christmas everyone!
