Journal entry by Alexandra Bouvrette —
We wish had had more time to update this website, but just didn't. We have had hardly a spare moment or scrap of energy at the end of each day. What a nightmarish 2 plus weeks. My father passed after midnight Sunday night (12:23am, Mon 5/29.) I took Monday to absorb it before we shared the news and rained on everyone's memorial day holiday... Ironic we know.
Here's the quick scoop. My father spent the previous 5 days in hospice and we were there for 12 to 16 hours a day with him. Before that, he was in the hospital for 2 weeks and the various doctors went back and forth between Hope and no hope, Hope and no hope, until we decided to remove his breathing/feeding tube last Tuesday per his wishes.
He hasn't been conscious since his surgery on May 9th, but we sat vigil and worked through our feelings in the hospital and then in the hospice center, Rose Arbor hospice in Kalamazoo Michigan.
We just got back from the funeral home to finalize his services for the end of the week. The tentative schedule for his services:
Viewing at langland funeral home in climax Michigan on Thursday evening 6/1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral at St Joseph Church in Battle Creek Michigan 12:00pm Friday 6 / 2
Burial at Fort Custer military cemetery at 2:00 p.m. 6/2
Luncheon back at St Joseph at 3:00 p.m. 6/2
Please check his online obit for any schedule changes (The burial and luncheon times may change if his military service record is unable to be verified on time) and I will try to post schedule updates here as well.
Thank You all for your support, kind wishes, and love.
