Journal

I think Terry would want to start this final post by saying something lighthearted like "Terry has left the building" or "Peace out, boy scout" or something like that.  Then he would want to thank all those who traveled this journey with him and prayed for him on the journey, so we thank you for praying and for making him feel loved and supported.  But then he would want to quickly move into making sure God got all the glory.  So that's where we'll focus.

Over the past couple of months, when people asked Terry how he was doing, he would most likely say "God's got this.  And I'm trusting Him to work all of it out for my good and His glory."  Indeed!  We know this to be true.  As in all circumstances, God is on His throne.  He knows what He's doing, He sees the bigger picture, and He works it all together for our good and His glory.  Terry's strength came only from knowing that Jesus is faithful to accomplish what He began in Terry.

Terry had seen his share of pain, of trials and tribulation, of bondage and true suffering.  But he also knew that God takes the broken and makes something beautiful.  He enjoyed a closeness with the Savior that many never experience.  He walked in the confidence that he was fully forgiven and wholly redeemed and he lived out what became his final years fully committed to drawing ever nearer to the Lord and making the Lord known to others.  In the early afternoon of Tuesday, May 22, his heart stopped beating.  In the blink of an eye, barely a month after his cancer had a name, he no longer sees dimly but is face to face with the Prince of Peace and the Lover of his soul.

Those of us who have trusted in the Lamb who was slain for our salvation, we mourn, but not as those who have no hope.  For we also will one day see Jesus face to face.  And it is to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb that all praise and honor and glory and power be given forever and ever.  Amen!

On the evening of Tuesday, May 29, we will gather at 7PM at Anthem Church, 7777 S. Garnett, Tulsa to share memories and celebrate Terry's life. Please join us if you are able.
