For three weeks, we lived a normal life. March 14th, marked three months from his surgery, Terry’s birthday and a release from all his restrictions!! One of which was his driving privileges!! My life became easier as well!! Now, he can drive himself to rehab, and I only need to go for doctors’ appointments!! We had it made!!

On 20 March, Terry went in for a bronchoscopy. During  the bronchoscopy, they took a lot of biopsies, and one of the biopsies showed a bacteria called Corynebacterium. This Monday, the doctor called Terry, told him about the bacteria and sent him back to the hospital to treat it with infusions twice a day. It was a gut punch for both of us!! He was doing so well!! Yes, he hadn’t felt well all last weekend but that happens every once and a while so we laid low. His oxygen numbers were good as well so we didn’t worry. 

While in the hospital, the doctor found the same medication comes in powder form and can be used in his nebulizer. It only has to be mixed. They wanted to make sure he tolerated it so he started on it last night and this morning! He tolerated it!! He is home on the couch watching basketball!! Life is good, sort of! 

The doctor addressed another concern. The area where the new lungs were connected showed an angry irritation. The doctor compared it to burnt skin. They want to remove the irritated cells in the same manner that they would remove burnt skin so the new skin could heal. They don’t want the new lung cells to heal over the irritated cells which would make the pathways narrow. Bronchoscopies will be more frequent than normal to allow them to remove those cells. An easy fix to a kind of scary problems!

In remembrance of the evening, I will end with the Lord’s Supper taken from Matthew 26:26-29.  Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, after blessing it broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, “take, eat; this is my body. And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you and my Father‘s kingdom.“
