Terry’s Story

Site created on November 3, 2023

Terry is doing pretty good. We are learning how to manage with his wheelchair and walker. We finally have an appointment for a speech therapist tomorrow to help him learn how to swallow again. He’s ok with liquids but we keep his foods soft like mashed potatoes in soup, etc. He’s had so much soup he’s anxious for something different. Of course he thinks ice cream is a new food group but I try to encourage at least yogurt. He was able to eat some cheese lasagna the other day and he was really excited about that! So we’re looking forward to the speech therapist. There’s also a therapist coming to show him how to take a shower safely. We’ve been having trouble trying to get a grab bar installed and still working on that. Thank you all for your prayers. God has been so good to us sending us such wonderful family and friends!! Love to all!!

Journal entry by Devin Fleming

Last Friday Terry had a fall and was taken back to the hospital.  He’s been very weak from lack of food.  He refuses to have that feeding tube meal so they’re supposed to be taking it out.  He’s been eating a soft diet.  He has to take small slow bites.  Other than the food issue he’s doing well.  His wound on his back is like a 2 inch round wound.  The nurse was showing me where you can actually see his back bone.  They’re trying to get that thing to heal up.  Looks like he’ll be going back to rehab whenever he gets done here.  He’s not up to visitors yet but sends his love to all.
