Journal entry by Terri Thornton —
Hi, all! Several folks checked in recently so I figured it's time for an update. June 2019 was the lung cancer diagnosis and July brought more info and a treatment plan, so this marks a year! I'm in much better shape than when I started - the cough's gone, the side effects are easing and the most recent scan shows a significant decrease, probably because the docs added IV chemo to the plan. I dreaded chemo but except for lingering fatigue, it was much better than expected. I finished the main course and am now on a maintenance dose every three weeks.
Alan is hugely supportive, as always, and gets me everything I need. Plus, he recently retired and is enjoying life! Matt's home while he's looking for a job and is a total joy - he's excellent company and a great cook! The pets are doing a good job of being adorable.
I'm still working, which I love; my client's are fine with me disappearing for medical appointments now and then. It's a scary world out there with COVID-10 -- and people who refuse to wear masks! Luckily, I'm very comfortable being house-bound.
Overall, everything's good! I will probably always have cancer but the docs refer to it as a chronic condition, similar to diabetes, that requires constant treatment. So if the courts refuse Trump's lawsuit to overturn Obamacare, which ensures insurance coverage for pre-existing conditions, I should be hanging around for quite a while. Fingers crossed! Thanks for all the love!
