Journal

Hi all, just wanted to share a quick update of Terri’s visit today with her oncologist, Dr. Hildreth. She had a PET scan done this morning. I’m not a doctor, so bare with me as I try to explain things to the best of my understanding 🤪

A PET scan is a procedure in which a small amount of radioactive glucose (sugar) is injected into the body, and a scanner is used to make detailed, computerized pictures of areas inside the body where the glucose is taken up.  Cancer cells take up more glucose than normal cells, so this essentially makes the cancer glow so the doc can pinpoint exactly where it’s active in her body.

The scan results were back quickly and yielded WONDERFUL news! It looks like a big portion of the lung tumor is dead - heck yes!! There are a couple little spots (nodules) in the occipital bone (and one other bone I can’t recall), but her Dr wasn’t worried about that at all. He said it’s “insignificant” and that the drug will kill that along with any other teeny spots that have metastasized. So, the miracle pill is working and we just keep on going forward! Her pulmonologist (🫁 specialist), even called her this afternoon to tell her personally that he saw her scans and that they’re “phenomenal!!” Thank you for your continued support. 🤍
