Terrie’s Story

Site created on December 2, 2020

Mama went in for stomach surgery (laparoscopic pyloroplasty) on Monday, November 23rd at MUSC. She had been dealing with some digestive issues for the last 8-10 months. 3-4 days (middle of night Thursday) following surgery things took turn for the worst and she underwent emergency surgery due to leakage from surgical procedure. 2 liters leaked into her body and she became septic. This is when our nightmare started.

Mama went to ICU, underwent temporary dialysis for her kidneys (they took quite a hit due to infection/sepsis) and was put on a ventilator.

If you know mom, she’s a living energizer bunny. She’s feisty, spunky and always on the go. This has made it even more difficult to see her in this state. To know her is to love her. The ongoing love, extraordinary gestures and support is what is allowing us to see the next hour during this scary journey.

Edward was discharged from hospital!!! MRI and EEG was both good 🙏🏼
Mom went for upper GI series this afternoon to determine if the bowel leak is truly another leak. We are awaiting the results to be read by radiologist. I keep reminding our family at least the original leak, the one that’s landed us here is resolved!!! Continued prayers are gratefully appreciated.
