Journal

As the old adage goes, no new news is good news.

Forgive the long-overdue update! As many of us suspected, Mom is a crazy-strong, resilient woman.

Today was her last chemo treatment for the foreseeable future. Scans in early July show that the chemotherapy and immunotherapy have done their job, and the tumor in the lung is "basically gone" and the lesion on her liver is remarkably smaller.

Besides a headache on the first day of each round's treatment and the loss of her hair, Teri has suffered very little of the expected (awful) side effects of the treatment.

She will continue with immunotherapy every three weeks, which consists of a one-hour infusion. The hope is for her to enjoy being as "little medicalized" as possible for a long time. If the tumors begin to grow again, our hope is that she will be able to do chemotherapy again to sustain similar results.

Our family enjoyed an AMAZING 4th of July in Missouri at the lake. Nearly all of the Stickles, Rooneys, Hansons, Abends, etc. got to gather at the cabin to memorialize our grandpa (Teri's father-in-law) and to spend time together as a larger family for the first time since the pandemic. We cried tears of sadness, laughed at the children (and ourselves), shared precious memories, ate delicious food, and spent a fantastic day on the water that is so significant to our family.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Teri. She is so beloved, and we are incredibly thankful for how well she is feeling while battling this horrendous disease.
