Journal entry by Teresa Whetsel

This week has loomed large in my mind for 2 reasons. First, it was one year ago this week that I began to show symptoms of something not being quite right. I thought it was a sinus infection, and didn't really think too much of it. Second, today was my follow-up appointment with my neurologist at Mayo Clinic. We met via Zoom. She had the results of my MRI that I had done a couple of weeks ago. She said she couldn't hardly believe that the scan was of the same brain that she had seen scans of last spring. She said that the brain lesion that I had last year was "one of the angriest lesions" she had ever seen. She was thrilled at the healing that has taken place. She explained that most often things like this only occur once; it's not impossible for things to recur, but it is rare. Normally, she would want another MRI at the one year mark from the first MRI, but since we are so close to that now, she didn't think that was necessary. At this point, she has released me from care, with the caveat that if I notice any symptoms I am to contact her immediately. At long last this chapter has come to an end. Thanks be to God!
