Journal entry by Carissa Jackson

I have been able to hang with my Mama today! So relieving to be with her! This week has been pretty rocky... she was hoping to be out in the four days which would of been Monday or Tuesday. Unfortunately she didn’t recover as quickly as she had hoped. They had her eating on day one, and she hasn’t had anything to eat since, and the feeding tube was put back in. They also tried to unhook her from drains and had to put them back because she wasn’t draining on her own... the pain med management has been difficult as well, they have struggled to keep her comfortable. But today she seems better, and a little more comfortable. She was having horrible back pain from the hospital bed and finally today they brought her a better bed and she seems like it has helped quite a bit! We are hoping that she will be released to go home tomorrow!!!! It will all depend on today and how the night goes! I feel that if she can get home she will be able to heal faster as hospitals are not a very comfortable place.
As she walks down the hall she says “slow and steady wins the race.”
So proud of my fighter and how strong she has been through all of the pain!
Thank you everyone for everything! The prayers, the donations, the flowers, the gifts, the thoughts! She is so overwhelmingly thankful and couldn’t do it without all of you!
