Journal entry by Candice Thompson

We have some news to share:

Moses is no longer with us on this earth. He passed away one week ago today.

Our hearts ache we miss him so dearly.

Our hearts are grateful for the freedom he is experience now with Jesus.

Our hearts ache we miss him so dearly.

Up until his last moments with us Moses was giving, and caring, and loving.

He loved to sign "I love you" and he gave "thumbs up" he rubbed our arms and patted our backs and kissed our cheeks.

Thank you God for the gift of Moses.

The following is the Obituary that Daddy and Mommy wrote for our precious son.

We are so proud of him.

We are so proud of our children.

Thank you for your continued prayer and love over us and especially Isaiah, David, and Nyla as they experience grief and loss of a beloved brother who was such a huge presence within their lives.

Moses Xin Thompson (6 years old) ran into the arms of Jesus on June 29th, 2021, surrounded by his immediate family in their home in Carmel, Indiana. Moses had a progressive lung disease, and his body was ready to be done here on earth. Moses was born in Beiliu, China in the Guangxi province on December 14, 2014, and was lovingly cared for by the Haven of Hope foster home until uniting with his forever family in December 2015.
Sean and Candice Thompson are the proud parents of Moses and his brothers Isaiah (10 years old), David (7 years old), and his sister Nyla (3 years old). His grandparents are Barry Granger and Connie Kane-Granger (Carmel, IN) and Robert Thompson and CarolAnn Thompson (Dundas, Ontario). Moses is a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had a generous and giving spirit while making his needs and wants known. If he wanted to do something independently, he made it known. If he wanted help, he made that known too and he did this while making you feel valued.

Moses was a wise soul often comforting others even when he was tackling a difficult moment in his treatment or ability to breathe comfortably.

Moses was funny and loved to make people laugh. He made up jokes and shortened them to one word and would yell them out expecting others to yell the joke back. It was funny because Moses thought it was funny. His giggle was contagious and his smile bursting with joy.

Moses was thoughtful and smart, often guiding the care his body needed to receive. He knew what order things should be done and fully participated. Moses often used sign language to communicate with his family. Some of his favorite signs were "I love you", "elephant", "friend", "family", "thank you", "home" and "Jesus", but he used many more signs to communicate.

Moses was an artist and spent much of his time drawing and painting. The choices of his colors and placement of every line, circle, or swirl were intentional. He spent time on each piece and often placed little happy faces within his drawings. He took pride in his artwork and always enjoyed seeing others look at his drawings.

Moses loved to swing and swing big. He liked to go high, and liked to swing in a big circle, and he loved to laugh when we would swing. Moses loved to go fast. He enjoyed sitting in his wagon and being pushed fast up and down the family driveway, especially by his big brother who always pushed fast. He asked his mommy to run with him in the stroller through the Riley parking garage at any doctor's appointment, and he would sign "fast, fast, fast." He loved round-a-bouts and we often would do an extra loop just to hear Moses say "wheeee"! When he felt up to it, he would run down the hall and purposely fall down, followed by laughter.

Moses enjoyed music and singing. While some may not claim his range of notes to be vast, he was one of the most entertaining and beautiful singers. Moses loved Jesus. He has met him a couple of times in his short life through close to end-of-life experiences and both times he spoke about Jesus to his family. He feels safe with Jesus and knows he is loved by Jesus. He liked to sing about Jesus especially in "big church" service at Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis.

Moses was a fantastic student. He loved to learn. This past year he was a part of "Tree House school," the homeschool classroom his family started in their home. He enjoyed all different activities but especially art, puzzles, and circle time with music, books, and acting out stories.

Moses' life here on earth was shorter than anyone would have hoped, and he is dearly missed, but his family celebrates the freedom he now experiences as his life now truly begins with his maker and friend Jesus.

Moses' family encourages you to reflect on the ways his life has moved or changed you and share with them. We as his family will always be changed by the way Moses lived.

Moses was beloved. We are all beloved and have special stories. Moses' family would like to allow the opportunity to read more of his story here written by the woman who did something small when she first met a little baby a few days old in China. The small thing she did made a huge impact on this earth. https://glory2one.blogspot.com/2015/09/do-something.html

Services: A private service and burial will be held July 9th 2021. His family requests that you celebrate Moses by swinging, drawing, worshiping, running fast, telling a joke, comforting someone, and reflecting on how he lived and what that meant to you.

Monetary gifts, if desired, can be given to The Riley Children's foundation, Make-a-wish foundation, or a fund for the family to create a memory Garden for Moses' siblings as a place to enjoy and remember their precious brother https://www.breadboost.com/fundraisers/78

"May God bless you with his special favor and wonderful peace as you come to know Jesus, our God and Lord, better and better." 2 Peter 1:2

This is the verse we chose for Moses when we dedicated him to God. It has brought us comfort as we miss him because it speaks of what Moses' life example is doing for us... helping us get to know Jesus better and better.

Thank you for your love.
