Journal entry by Dave Schmidt —
It has been awhile since we have posted here. Since Sara’s portal vein stent surgery we have been busy. The surgery went really well and after surgery her care team wanted her to take a week off from chemo to recover. Because of the week off we were able to go stay with my parents in Wisconsin and spend time at the lake. It was very relaxing for all of us and Sara caught a fish on every cast she made during the week! When we came home we were able to have a cabin party at the lakes with Sara’s family!! Then Sara started chemo again on June 27th. It followed a similar pattern to previous treatments. She felt really rough for about 5 days then felt good. Sara had a busy weekend celebrating her birthday with some friends on Saturday, her cousins on Sunday and then with the boys and I yesterday. It was a great weekend. Today she is getting her 10th round of chemo. So far it is going well (although it is hard to come in for treatments after enjoying summer so much). She will have two more rounds of chemo then we go back to Mayo. Thank you all very much for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate you all!
