Newest Update

Journal entry by Holly Socha

Final Update- It’s been an entire month since my last update…which is all good news. This will be a short and sweet update since Milani is doing so well. I felt like I needed to tie up how long PT went and give a general update to where Milani is at now.

She ended up only needing three physical therapy check ups and that was IT! There is an affiliated Children’s Hospital Rehabilitation clinic in Lincoln that does outpatient work. Our PT, Hailee was amazing. So great with Milani and provided us with activities to do at home shortly after we left the hospital through the next few weeks thereafter. After the second she felt like she would only need to see her one more time. Whoo hoo!

We also had nutritional follow ups with Milani’s pediatrician which concluded with her weight was increasing and on track. It also resulted an additional visit to Ear Nose and Throat where we found that Milani had ecoli in her ear. Gross. You may wonder why and how that happens. Due to her ear just being so warm and cruddy with fluid, it was a perfect place for this fungi to grow. With a couple of different drops and antibiotics she’s better. She does go back for a check up there for her tube that seems to be dislodged in March.

Milani  is back at dance and gymnastics and thriving! We are getting ready for a family ski/snowboarding trip this upcoming week also.

With such a scary time that gutted our entire world in what seemed like years has come and gone in a blink of an eye. Milani has been dancing to her two favorite songs - both by Taylor Swift (shake it off and anti hero) which fills our hearts to see her so happy!

Thank you everyone again for sending those prayers up and the support. I truly truly believe that that made all of the difference with our prayers over Milani in the hospital with the multiple chaplains we prayed and talked with. Final update. Love you all!
