Journal

Betcha didn’t think you were gonna get two updates in one week!?! I wish this was a good update, but it’s not really. And I know peeps are gonna get frustrated. Nick and I are frustrated, but we can only be for too long before we have to move forward.

After going over my CT results again with a second radiologist, there is actually disease progression in my liver. Which, honestly was what I had been expecting to hear. This is the roller coaster that is cancer. So, once again we are changing my treatment plan. We are moving from folfiri to lonsurf and avastin. Lonsurf is a pill and avastin is administered through IV. Lonsurf I’ll take for two weeks on, two off. And I’ll go into the infusion center for the avastin once a month (I’m pretty sure). And only have to be there a fewish hours. I’ve had avastin before. And had some minor side effects. And lonsurf won’t be much different than what I experience now. Hopefully.

Super frustrated and upset with this. But, like I said earlier all we can do is move forward in the best way possible. We’ve pretty much gone through the available treatments that have the most viability. Dr. Nagi is continuing to check about clinical trials that I might qualify for. And we will talk about the possibility of radiation for my liver. Dr. Nagi is concerned that if we radiate that spot, it’s going to make other spots flare up. We’re still processing all the info and working through it right now. We need to make sure we make the best choices.

And we are also going to be researching other treatment options outside of the standard western medicine. There are some options in Mexico of all places.

So I have been on the phone quite a bit this week. I will have the lonsurf next week and we’ll start this new treatment plan next Thursday. On the plus side, I won’t be on vectabix. So my skin will hopefully go back to normal! No more painful dry face, dry skin over my entire body, breakouts, crazy long tangled eyelashes! I’m looking forward to that!

This should cover it for now! Thank you for continuing to follow along with us!!

xoxo - Lara
