Journal entry by Nick Taylor

We are back at Mayo. Nothing says spring break and Easter like a 4 hour cryoblation surgery. Early in February, Maggie, Trace,  and her Mom came to Mayo for two reasons:

1.  Six-month follow up

2. Determine if/how ACL repair and rehab might impact AVM.

We went from Maggie's goal for a surgery free 2024, to two surgeries within 6 weeks of each other and all before April 1.

The interventional radiologist and the orthopedic surgeon agreed-- we needed to do the third AVM procedure as close to the ACL reconstruction as possible, so as not to impede any gains she would have made in rehab.

In July 2022 and Aug 2023, Maggie has a similar MRI-guided ablation.  ICYMI: She has a chicken-breast sized vascular mass on the backside of her upper left thigh. Dr. Woodrum has treated it in the past with a laser, which we lovingly refer to as frying. This time he will utilize cryotherapy (feeezing). He warned that while the recovery is significantly more difficult and painful, he is confident the constant pain will be down to a 1 or a 2 after this.  It has lessened each time, and this is the first time freezing it, so we are praying this continues, and that the 3rd time is indeed the charm.  When we started this journey four years ago, she was in constant pain at a level 8-9. or 9--so a consistent 1-2 will be a life changing blessing.

As far as the previous posts about her thyroid, we are in steady state or watching the numbers and visiting with the endocrinologist on a regular basis.

She is in surgery now.

Thanks to all of you who pray for her and us and check in with us. We love you and are abundantly blessed to be surrounded with such an amazing circle.
