Taryn’s Story

Site created on June 18, 2022

Thank you for visiting our page and checking in! We are using this website as a place to update all those that care about Taryn and her family.

On Friday, June 10th, Taryn was diagnosed with a brain tumor in her temporal lobe after an unexpected trip to the ER.  She had surgery on June 20th, where the surgeon was able to remove up 90-95% of it.  To treat the remaining tumor left, Taryn completed radiation treatment and is currently in the process of completing her 6 months of chemo. She has been receiving care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Though this has been so sudden and unexpected, we have felt so incredibly supported and loved by our family and friends during this time and are grateful for your continued prayers and support! We will continue to post updates as needed here.

Journal entry by Taryn Krier

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!
I'm hopping on to drop a quick note. :-)

Good News:
When thinking about where my brain tumor was -- past-tense: important! <3 --it continues down that path. (I guess I could give that an A+++!) There are no concerns regarding this, which is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful thing to keep hearing! Praise, God!

So-so News:
My doctor noticed a small spot on my MRI scan that is located on the opposite side from where my large brain tumor was previously. (Again, "was"! <3)  It is quite small, but comparing it to the previous MRI scan, it does appear slightly brighter. Although there is a chance it might just be some scar tissue from radiation, it is best to be extra precautious, so I am back down to the MRI scan every 4 weeks (instead of every 8 weeks). I truly am so okay with this and grateful for a doctor and his team to continue monitoring it closely and try to learn more about it to be proactive as needed. Pray to God!

Fun News:
In October, lots of my family, friends, and I got to attend the Brains Together event in Rochester. It's definitely a bit strange to not only be attending that event, but to be the primary reason we have now personally connected with it. Truly though, it was special. It really warms the hearts of people attending because of all of us living through too-similar of stories. If you have supported me or anyone through this event, thank you, thank you, thank you. (Pictured as Luigi is my doctor: Dr. Sener!)

I hope you've all been blessed with family time and some delicious food! Regardless, feel good, because now it is officially time for that Christmas tree! ;-)
