Journal entry by Yasmin Shirdel —
Friends and Family,
It's been a while and I wanted to share the most recent update. Shana has provided her most recent update:
We got Taryn’s PET scan results this week and although the chemo seems to be shrinking her cancer, her oncologist is concerned about the amount of cancer in her body and has told us at this point he believes it to be incurable. The plan is to continue with the chemo treatments for now. We refuse to give up. Taryn is so strong and determined to be the miracle patient you hear about who defies the odds and lives a long, amazing life. Her GI doctor is trying to move her toward being able to eat food again so that is our current focus. We will also research alternative treatments to help Taryn fight this in any way we can. Everyone has asked how they can help and honestly what will help most at this point along with prayers is donating to Taryn’s go fund me page so we can continue providing Taryn with the treatments she needs. Fighting cancer is such an emotionally draining process and if we can remove some of the financial burdens for Taryn that will be a huge stress off her shoulders. It has been so long since I have heard my sister's incredible, boisterous, contagious laugh. I don’t think a more beautiful sound exists, and I’m praying that I will once again get to hear her unincumbered, joyful laugh. With all your continued support and love I know that we will once again hear her wonderful laugh echoing across the room. ~ Shana

A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Taryn's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
