Tara’s Story

Site created on August 30, 2019

DO NOT DONATE
A lot of people have been confused about the "Donate" button on this web site.  Your donation will not go to Tara or our family.  It is only to help Caring Bridge continue operating sites like this one free of charge.  Of course you're welcome to donate to Caring Bridge, but understand that we are not asking for any donations.

At 12.5 weeks pregnant, Tara was diagnosed with cervical cancer.  Through a winding roller coaster journey (see past journal entries), we eventually learned that it is neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix, an extremely rare form of cervical cancer that is usually very aggressive.

We felt we had no choice but to terminate the pregnancy so that Tara can get a radical hysterectomy.  She is also undergoing chemotherapy and may need radiation therapy.

It helps her to know that people are thinking of her and praying for her.  Words of support and encouragement are welcome.

Journal entry by Sam Cates

I created a memorial website for Tara here: https://everloved.com/life-of/tara-cates/.  It's a great place to share stories, including photos or videos.  It also has all the information about the events this weekend, and about donating to support cancer research in Tara's name.

Feel free to share it with anyone who knew Tara.

Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
Help Tara Stay Connected to Family and Friends

A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Tara's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
