Newest Update

Journal entry by Tanya Partington

Hello everyone!!
It’s been a minute since I have posted anything. I’m sorry I haven’t kept you all updated very well. 😢

Since my last journal entry so many things have changed.. my diagnosis has changed dramatically… much better news, thank you Jesus!! ❤️ The last journal entry I posted I was about to go in for my liver biopsy and more blood testing to find out where my original diagnosis of advanced cancer had started and to find out exactly how bad it was. I have obviously since gotten all of those test results back and good news…. Absolutely NO CANCER! ❤️🙏

I am seeing the worlds best oncologist and he still remains my doctor even though it’s not cancer, Dr Kotiso at Allina Cancer Institute and his nurse Holly are absolutely wonderful!!

Dr Kotiso diagnosed me with stage 3 Sarcoidosis, which is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease which attacks your internal organs and can attack bone as well, it has some similarities to Lupus.

In most cases of sarcoidosis, it tends to be a pulmonary thing going for the lungs, but for me, it took to my liver, most of it, and also in my clavicle, sternum, femur, T7 vertebrae in my spine, chest, and pelvic bones.

This explains the aching I was experiencing for months, maybe even for a couple years. I noticed myself getting really sick anytime I would drink any alcoholic beverages, even if it were just 1 drink I would get severe stomach issues and nauseous. My liver wasn’t functioning and this is why this was happening. And here I thought I was just getting old and my body was starting to feel the age! 🤣🤣

Since my diagnosis, I have been prescribed lots of meds to make me feel better and hope to get the flare up at bay.

I am on a very strong dose of steroids everyday.. 40mg of prednisone daily for 8 weeks and then tapering each week after that until it gets to 5mg and back in for a pet scan in November to see where we are at.

Along with steroids daily I am also taking an antibiotic 3 times a week to keep any infections or pneumonia away since prednisone weakens your immune system dramatically. I’m also taking 1200mg calcium, 5000mg vitamin D, 1200mg black seed oil, 2 different blood pressure meds, cholesterol pill, heartburn pill, anti-anxiety pill, and also 20units of insulin daily in the morning. Lots of pills!! Some days are good, some days are GREAT, and some days I wish I didn’t have to get out of bed. I have pain… that’s to be expected, some days it’s worse than others, but it’s better than cancer!!! My stomach gets upset frequently from the meds. Sometimes all I want to do is eat and sometimes not so much. It’s definitely a challenge… but I stay as positive as I possibly can, I’d rather live through this than die of Cancer!! F@CK CANCER!!

I hope I answered any questions anyone has.. I know a lot of you were waiting to hear everything and once again I do apologize for taking so long to post.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!

God bless ❤️🙏
