Journal entry by Megan Ternquist —
It’s hard to keep a farmer out of the field for long. Yesterday a t 7:30 a.m. we were in St. Paul for surgery [lucky] #13. By 7:30 p.m. we were checking fields.
Dr. Mahajan was able to successfully remove scar tissue in Tanner’s left hand and free up the metacarpophalangeal (MP) joints in the middle & ring fingers. There is now almost full mobility in the pointer & ring fingers. The ring finger can reach a 45 degree angle in that MP joint, which is fantastic given the extent of the injury! Tanner will continue hitting the hand therapy hard (3x a week) to keep those fingers moving well. We will head back to St. Paul in a month for a follow-up visit.
It rained overnight and more rain is in today’s forecast, so hopefully Tanner will get in some much needed rest. Thankfully, it looks like there’ll be some knee high 🌽 by the 4th of July!
