Newest Update

Journal entry by Bre Wagner

I had a drs appointment today and it did not go as I had hoped.  My dr was very straight forward with me and told me I have very serious injuries and it takes time to heal and that I need to listen and be extremely careful and just let my body heal.    My C6 is looking great, which is good news!  Thank you god for that.   The issue is my C1 vertebrae is still not healed and compromised so I have to be really careful so still no activity for 6-8 more weeks.   This is the top part of my neck were they were not able to stabilize and it needs to heal on its own.   It is the part of the neck we’re you have left/right range of motion and basically holds your head.   It is also the worst place to have a break and the scariest cause several things can go wrong.  I am struggling with this news and basically scared to move or do anything because today was the first time they explained the severity of my injury.      He was able to show me the break on the X-ray.  I have to continue to wear the brace 24/7 and I cannot start physical therapy until C1 heals and it just takes time.  They put me on Lyrica for the pain in my hands and gave me something to help me sleep at night. Just a very slow process and I cannot push myself.  I have to be patient.  Basically I am on bed rest and short walks  for the next month.  Then we do another X-ray to see how it is healing..   If it does not heal on its own they will have to do another surgery and I will have very little range of motion so they are trying to avoid this.  Please pray to give me some peace and the strength I am going to need to get through the next month until my next X-ray and hopefully complete healing or significant progress so I can start physical therapy.  Much Love -  Tammy
