On August 19th mom was taken to the Emergency Room at Avera with pains in her neck and back. A CT scan was done on her neck and that is when they found a mass on right side of her neck. They then did an MRI and found a mass by her left kidney at this time they also found some lesions in her spine as well. Mom was admitted to the hospital to go for further testing. They had also found a lesion on her left hip. On Tuesday August 21st mom under went surgery on her hip to clean out the lesion and to put a rod in from her femur to her knee to help with support. They took the sample from her femur to test to see what kind of cancer she had. She has been doing good since the surgery. On Thursday August 23rd mom was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma.
Mom was discharged on August 23rd and was able to get home where she could relax and see her puppies!
She has started her first treatment of radiation August 24th. She will do 10 radiation treatments to her mass in her neck Monday through Friday. On August 30th she has a meeting with Dr. Huber to discuss chemotherapy.
