In January 2018, I was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer. A tumor was found on the back of my pelvic bone near the spine.

Hello All!

It's been a long time since I last updated you. I recently had a visit to Mayo. This time two of my sisters, Janice and Jill, joined me. It was great to have them there, but we decided it would be much more fun to do a sister trip to somewhere warm, with a beach! 😃

The test results and appointments were good news. The tumor is stable and the tumor marker went down to 14! That's 1/2 of what it was in April last year.  Both doctors were pleased with the results and believe we should see  continue to see improvement in that tumor. There was only one tiny bit of bad news.  There are two very small spots on my lungs that my oncologist had seen previously and has been monitoring. Those two spots have grown from 1mm to 2mm and there was possibly a 3rd tiny spot that she saw. I have felt all along that the lung spots were inconsequential and not cancer, but the growth (albeit small) made me question my stance.  Apparently, the lungs are a very common place for metastatic thyroid cancer to show up and that is why the doctor looked at them in the first place.  Like I said, this is just a tiny bit of bad news.

Overall, this was a very positive visit and I won't have to go back again for 9 months!  🥳🎉

Thank you all for the prayers and kind words!  You have all been such a great support to me and my family. Always remember ... God is good!

Love,
Tammy
