Hi everyone. 

I am writing because I wanted you to know just a few more things before I stop posting here. 

Beverly, even after leaving this world, is performing one last act of beauty. The research team at Johns Hopkins asked if they could do a limited autopsy on her lungs to help them understand the effects of covid on its victims. Tracy and I decided that if Beverly could save one life, she'd do it in a second. 

Her spirit is clearly free as I had the most incredible visit from a stunning hawk this afternoon. Her body will be taken from Hopkins to Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring later today. She will be cremated and her ashes will - in an act of complete and sacred rebellion - be spread over the graves of our parents. SHHHHHHHH. She wants to be with them and the cemetery won't inter her ashes above mom's casket so...we'll just do it for them. SHHHHHHH.

I feel Beverly smiling. I also hear her saying, "BARBARA!!! TRACY!!!!" in mock astonishment and complete thrill. As Bev and I used to quote Hayley Mills in The Trouble With Angels, "We've got a scathingly brilliant idea!"

As a Jew by choice, I have been in touch with my synagogue clergy (a lot) and they are creating a couple different ways to gather those of us who love Beverly. There will be a shiva (or two or three) beginning Saturday evening on ZOOM. Also, there will be a memorial service on Wednesday May 20th at 11am. Also on zoom.
