Journal

Well this will be my last post on Sydney's behalf. It has been a long week but we are down to our last few hours here.

It was hard coming into this process not knowing what to expect as far as side effects and knowing that some of them can be serious. The fear of the unknown was why we made the decision to have me come down and be with her. We also didn't know what that would look like, would I be full time at the infusion center or back and forth. After the first day it was clear (at least to me) that I needed to be here. Mostly just for small thing; chauffer, getting lunch, helping get the blood pressure cuff back on etc. But any mom gets it. I was also glad to be here for the more serious reactions and to get her to the ER.

I'm so proud of how she handled the week. Despite some strange reactions she always remained calm and kept a positive attitude. She  is just happy to be feeling as good as she is and said the reactions she has had are manageable.

I have to commend the staff at the Fairview advanced infusion center. Everyone has been great throughout the week. Despite the setting, we have had a great experience and Sydney has been well cared for. We appreciate Dr. Conway's quick responses and advice to reactions.

Thanks to the professors and staff at the U of M vet school who have worked with Sydney and made accommodations through this process that will allow her to begin rotations on time. Thanks to Cheyenne for picking up Sydney's things for the ceremony this weekend. It still takes a village lol!

We are so happy she will be able to participate in the White Coat Ceremony this weekend. It's such a nice symbol of all the hard work over the past 3 years of vet school and her being able to be a part of it after this last week is such a bonus.

Lastly and most importantly, we continue to hope and pray this medication provides the results we want. The whole reason to go this aggressive medication route was to get Sydney back to the healthiest she can be. Only time will tell, but we continue to think positively.
