Sybil’s Story

Site created on February 24, 2023

This page will provide updates about Sybil’s treatment for cancer. She was diagnosed with cancer. On 2/21/2023. On 02/27/23, she had two pins/rods inserted into her left hip to increase stability and prevent a potential pathological fracture. A biopsy found non-small cell lung cancer. More treatment begins soon.

She and her family would like for you to know how deeply they appreciate your prayers and support.

We will update when there is new information or when the family needs specific things, such as a grocery run or pickup.

Many thanks for the outpouring of kindness. Your prayers are helping.

Journal entry by Sandra Mitchell

With a heavy heart, I am writing to let you know that our beautiful Sybil is now at peace. She was so brave and fought so hard, but God had other plans for her. She loved life and her family and friends. We will all miss her contagious smile, fun sense of humor, adventurous spirit and love for the arts and our community, but she will live on in all of us. Special prayers for Chris, Mollie, Alex, Caroline and Bill as they navigate this difficult journey. Services will be held Wednesday at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Moore Road. Visitation from 11am to 1pm. Services at 1pm. More information available at HeritageChattanooga.com.
